Shooting victim remembered at Mountain House memorial. This just appeared in our yard in response to our Love Beer Hate Fascism flag. It made me ill. Yesterday, the house across the street from that flag-flying home displayed their own Keep America Great flag. Shall we begin with the fact that this country, built on genocide and slavery, was never great for a whole lot of people?
Or the blatant transfer of money and power to the already rich and powerful? Maybe the rollback of environmental regulations and climate denialism? Great, indeed. My reaction to the neighbors? I wanted to fly an Antifa flag, but Zippy worried the ignorance surrounding that message would result in violence directed at us.
So what was his preferred message? While I approve that sentiment, this moment is much larger than that loathsome individual. Negotiation ensued. I also ordered an Earth flag to replace the one we displayed during the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
Many people in our neighborhood fly U. Still have my morning cough episodes, but yesterday I walked the neighborhood 2. Exhibit A: looking out my window at Rainbow. Rainbow Dash so-named in honor of My Little Pony. But when the pile was still there the next day I realized my neighbor was out of town.
Here was my chance! So I went over to photograph the remains before picking it up. Note: I did not scrub the concrete. The other day I saw a neighbor walking up the street ahead of me. That red shirt triggered a stream of expletives about how she supported a white supremacist. Poor Zippy had to endure that volcanic eruption. Stupid mean people. Stupid red shirt. But you know what? Red is a beautiful color. Red belongs to all of us.
Beauty is everywhere a welcome guest. Two such camps had already opened in December near the state Capitol downtown without any major problems. Despite the call to action, five Park Hill residents filed a lawsuit earlier this month in Denver District Court to stop the encampment and sought a temporary restraining order to prevent the project from moving forward.
They said in the lawsuit that the proposal "pose[s] a real danger to minors and school-aged children," does not address the impact on the neighborhood and displaces people from one part of the city "with available resources to an area not equipped to handle" the safe-camping site.
The lawsuit was dismissed by the court Wednesday, and the Colorado Village Collaborative is on track to open the camp June 14 after securing a city permit. Cole Chandler, executive director of the collaborative, which has created tiny home villages for homeless people in Denver, said more people are sleeping outside rather than in emergency shelters to avoid catching Covid, to have more freedom and to avoid becoming crime victims in the crowded spaces. We need solutions like this that seek to mitigate harm, seek to reduce impacts in surrounding neighborhoods and, most importantly, seek to provide services and long-term housing connections to people on the streets.
NJ gov candidate Jack Ciattarelli responds to Murphy's comments about lockdown orders. A point-in-time survey conducted in January by the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative found 4, people living on the streets in the city and county. City shelters can house about half that many each night. Results from this year's survey are not out yet, but experts expect the number to grow. Like most websites, VannDigital uses cookies.
